Match Report
Bishops 3rd XV vs  Wynberg Boys High School
On: Friday, 09 Aug 2019
Venue: at Home

Not an easy week for us in losing 5 players in key positions to the 2nd team. That said, for the 4th team below us it was even more tricky with us having to pull up four of their best players, also in key positions including their captain.

We knew there was sufficient depth especially with a string grade 11 group. But it was a little sad for some that they missed out on a last home game team culture aspects for the teams they usually played and have become invested in.

It is what it is...and as I mentioned to a couple of coaches, one positive is it will give opportunity, all be it one game and then most likely many will go straight back down for Bosch next week.

We started sluggishly and it was clear from the get go that we had some set piece issues both at line out and mostly at scrum. This was inevitable with the changes and we sort of had to adapt in looking to play off their mistakes on the transitions. Defence was excellent a common thread in both the 3rds and 4ths this season, so players coming up were great in this regard.

We scored two tries from their mistakes and we scored another excellently worked set play line out move just before half time. 17-0 up was good at halftime but who ever scored next after break was crucial as Wynberg had improved on many aspects since we played them last.

We scored a well work try to make it 24 0 at that was where we felt we had done enough to take the game and break the shackles...scrums were still very tricky and we will need to fix this for next week against a stronger pack. Line outs were ok, considering the changes and I must commend the 4th team players that came in and contributed well to the cause.
